Boo Basket Ideas For Your Little Boo

Join in on the Spooktacular Fun: Crafting the Perfect Boo Basket

Halloween is just around the corner (even though it may not feel like it here in Cali), and it’s time for your toddlers first treat of the season! Whether you’re new to the mom scene or a seasoned pro, I’m sure you’ve seen the latest trend: boo baskets! I’ve seen so many cute ones already and found tons of inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram. Traditionally, they are given on the 1st of October to kick off the spooky season with themed books, activities and other goodies your kids will be enjoying all month long. If you haven’t put one together yet, don’t worry! These baskets can be given any time of the month!

If you’re putting a boo basket together this year, make sure to have fun with it! Below is the basket I put together for my daughter last year. Included in their baskets were Halloween-themed books, toys and accessories. Below you’ll also find a list of Boo Basket stuffer ideas to help you come up with the perfect items for your little ones basket.

I have two baskets to put together this year and still need to narrow down what to put in them. Putting a boo basket together for an adult? Check out my posts on boo baskets for women of all ages and men of all ages.

Boo Basket Items Perfect for Toddlers

If this is your little ones first or second Halloween, then chances are, they don’t have much in the way of spooky season items. This is the perfect time to build up their library with Halloween related books or add to their stuffed animal collection. Just make sure you don’t go overboard and save some items for future Boo Baskets. From my photo, you can tell I obviously had a hard time holding back on the books! Below are two lists of Boo Basket stuffer ideas. One for items that can be used for years to come. The other with more disposable items that will only last the season.

Items Children Could Keep and Use for Years:

  1. Halloween storybooks
  2. Hair accessories
    • Whether you’re into bats, pumpkins or ghosts, there are plenty of festive hair clips to go around!
  3. Plush animals
    • Add some spooky friends to their stuffed animal collection with Halloween-themed stuffed animals like pumpkins, ghosts, or bats.
  4. Reusable Halloween trick-or-treat bag
    • This gift can also double as the basket itself to display everything in. You can make it even more personable by adding their name on it.
  5. Halloween blanket
    • A fun, spooky blanket perfect for movie nights.
  6. Decorative room decor
  7. Halloween puzzles
    •  Not only does a chunky Halloween puzzle fit the season, but it also helps your toddler develop their motor skills. They’re learning and don’t even know it!
  8. Themed toys
  9. Reusable water bottle or tumbler
    • Not only was the pumpkin cup I grabbed for my daughter adorable, it also came with a lid so you could use it as a snack holder too!
  10. Halloween movie DVD/Blu-ray
    • If your child has gravitated toward a specific show or character, check out if they have a Halloween episode you can add to their basket. Some classic characters that kids love are Curious George, Paw Patrol, Peppy Pig, and Blippi, just to name a few.

Disposable Items for the Halloween Season:

  1. Halloween-themed pajamas
    • I put this under the disposable section only because your child will most likely not be able to fit into these pajamas by next Halloween. I always love a good themed pajama. You can make this a family tradition and get everyone the same jammies to wear for movie night.
  2. Spooky snacks
  3. Spirited craft kits
    • With chilly weather starting to descend, it’s best to start looking for some in door activities. Craft kits like this one are perfect for keeping little ones entertained and allows their imagination to run wild.
  4. Spooky fun stickers
    • Stickers are the perfect distraction for my daughter’s. Are you traveling this season to celebrate Halloween with family or friends? Stickers are the perfect thing to ensure a few moments of quiet play time during that long car ride or flight.
  5. Halloween costume
    • If you’re really on top of things this year, you can include your child’s Halloween costume in their basket. In a few short years, they’ll become very opinionated and want to pick out their own so enjoy this time while it lasts!

I hope this list was able to give you some great ideas to jump start your hunt for the perfect Boo Basket items!

Happy Halloween!
