Cream together the butter, sugar and vanilla.
Add the eggs and mix.
Mix in the flour and baking powder.
Pour the batter (reserving at least 1 cup)into a greased 9x13 inch pan.
Spread the cherry pie filling over the dough mixture. Spoon the rest of the dough over the filling in patches.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
